iPhone screen recording shows 9:41 and full battery

A recording of a cabled iPhone or iPad shows the time as 9:41, full signal bars and a full battery, regardless of what the device actually reads.

Cause. iOS substitutes a cosmetic status bar whenever the screen is captured over a cable. It is applied on the device, before any frame reaches the Mac.

This is expected behaviour, not a fault. Nothing in iRecord can change it, and no Mac app can — the same thing happens with QuickTime Player. It is also useful confirmation: a 9:41 status bar means the take came from the device's own screen over the cable, rather than from a camera pointed at it or from a simulator.

There is no setting to turn it off, and it does not affect anything else in the recording.
