Terms and Conditions for iRecord

Last Updated: August 7, 2026

1. WHO WE ARE, AND WHAT THIS COVERS

We are iRecord ("we," "us," "our"), operating from Massachusetts, United States. These terms govern your use of the website https://irecord.video (the "Site") and the iRecord macOS application (the "App").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

You can reach us at support@irecord.video.

2. WHAT THE APP DOES

iRecord is a macOS application that records your screen, your camera, and your microphone, and lets you edit and export the result as an MP4 video file.

The App runs entirely on your Mac. Your recordings are written to your own disk, and we do not receive, store, or have any access to them. There is no iRecord account, and nothing you record is uploaded anywhere.

Planned features. We intend to offer shareable links in the future, which would involve an optional account and a separate hosted service. That service does not exist today, is not part of what you are buying, and would have its own terms and its own privacy disclosures. Nothing in these terms obliges us to build it, and you should buy the App for what it does today.

3. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The App requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Earlier versions of macOS are not supported and cannot record microphone audio, which is why they are not offered.

The App needs your permission to record your screen, and optionally your camera and microphone. macOS asks you for these permissions directly; we never receive them or the data they protect.

It is your responsibility to confirm your Mac meets these requirements before purchasing. The free trial described below exists so you can do exactly that.

4. FREE TRIAL

The App includes a 7-day free trial with no payment details required. The trial is not limited in features and adds no watermark.

When the trial ends, two things stop working until you enter a licence key: starting a new recording, and exporting a video. Everything else keeps working permanently. You can still open the App, browse your recordings, and play them back. We will never lock you out of footage you already made.

5. YOUR LICENCE

When you buy iRecord for $99, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App.

You may use the App commercially. Videos you make with iRecord are yours. We claim no rights over them, and you may use, publish, sell, or monetise them however you like, including as part of a business.

How many Macs. One licence may be activated on up to 2 Macs that you personally own or control. The App can release an activation from within it (Settings → Licence → Deactivate This Mac), so you can move your licence to a new Mac yourself. We do not currently sell team, seat-based, or volume licences; if you need to cover more people, contact us.

Perpetual means perpetual. This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel. The version you buy keeps working for as long as it runs on your Mac, whatever we do later.

Updates. Updates to iRecord are included at no extra cost. The App checks for them once a day and never installs anything without you approving it. We do not promise any particular update, any particular feature, or support for future versions of macOS indefinitely.

You may not:

  • share, resell, sublicense, or publish your licence key;
  • attempt to circumvent the trial or the licence check, or distribute tools or instructions for doing so;
  • decompile or reverse-engineer the App, except where local law expressly permits it;
  • use the App to record people or screens where doing so is illegal where you are, or where you lack the consent that the law requires.

Recording law varies by country and by state, particularly for audio. Complying with it is your responsibility, not ours.

6. PAYMENT

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale. This means Lemon Squeezy — not us — processes your payment, and is responsible for collecting and remitting any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live. Your receipt and your card statement will show Lemon Squeezy.

Prices are shown in US dollars and may be presented to you inclusive of tax depending on your location. We may change the price of iRecord at any time; a change never affects a licence you have already bought.

We do not receive or store your card details at any point.

7. REFUNDS

If iRecord is not what you expected, email support@irecord.video within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not have to give a reason.

We offer a 7-day free trial precisely so that you can find out whether the App works for you before paying, and we would rather refund you than have you keep something you do not want.

When a refund is issued, your licence key is disabled and the App returns to its unlicensed state on your Macs. Recordings you have already made and exported remain yours and remain on your disk.

Refunds after 14 days are at our discretion. Nothing here limits any statutory refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of your own country, which applies regardless of what this section says.

8. PRIVACY

Your recordings never leave your Mac. The App contacts our servers for exactly two purposes: checking whether a new version is available, and validating your licence key with Lemon Squeezy. Neither of those transmits your recordings, your screen contents, or anything about what you record.

See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

9. DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The App is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will capture any particular recording successfully.

Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. Screen recording depends on your hardware, your disk, other software on your Mac, and macOS itself. We are not liable for lost, corrupted, or failed recordings.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of the App is limited to the amount you actually paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. TERMINATION

We may terminate your licence if you materially breach these terms — for example by publishing your key or distributing a crack. Where the breach is capable of being fixed, we will tell you and give you a reasonable chance to fix it first.

You may stop using the App at any time. Your recordings are yours and stay on your disk.

11. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these terms. The "Last Updated" date above always reflects the current version. Changes are not retroactive: the terms you agreed to when you purchased continue to govern that purchase, and no change will reduce a licence you have already paid for.

12. GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your own country.

Before starting any formal proceeding, please email us. Nearly everything is faster to solve that way.
