iPhone or iPad not detected when recording its screen on a Mac
The New Recording window says No iPhone or iPad connected, or the recording fails with
The device didn't share its screen.
Cause. iRecord records a device's screen over the cable. A device that is asleep, locked, or has not trusted this Mac stays connected and simply sends nothing.
Fix
- Connect the device to the Mac with a cable. Wireless is not supported.
- Unlock the device and leave it unlocked.
- Tap Trust This Computer if the device asks, then enter the device passcode.
- Return to the New Recording window and choose iPhone. The device appears in the list on its own; there is nothing to refresh.
- Press Record.
iRecord waits for the device to actually hand over its screen before the take starts, so a locked or untrusted device fails with the message above rather than saving an empty Take.
A device recording is portrait when the device is portrait, and Save Video exports it that way
with no configuration.
