Granting screen recording, camera and microphone access on macOS

iRecord needs three separate macOS permissions, and asks for each one only where it is needed.

Where they are. All three appear as a row in the New Recording window — Screen Recording access needed, Camera access needed, Microphone access needed — each with a Grant button. There are no permission pop-ups anywhere else in iRecord; the row is the whole pattern.

Fix

  1. Open the New Recording window.
  2. Press Grant on the row you need. The button opens System Settings at the exact pane — Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, Camera, or Microphone.
  3. Turn iRecord on in that list.
  4. For Screen Recording, quit iRecord and open it again. See Access granted but iRecord still says it is needed.

macOS asking again is normal. macOS re-checks screen recording access every so often and asks again on its own schedule. That is the system re-verifying, not iRecord losing the permission you gave it.

macOS asks only once per permission. If you dismiss or deny a request, the system will not ask again — which is why the Grant button opens System Settings instead of showing another prompt.

The Record button stays disabled while a permission the chosen source needs is missing, so a recording cannot start and then fail.
